A reading journey into the world of rare diseases - an information journey into the work of the Center for Rare Diseases (ZSE) Jena

In the European Union, diseases are considered rare if they affect fewer than 5 people in 10,000. However, this applies to more than 8,000 clinical pictures. This means that around 4 million people in Germany are affected by a rare disease. 70% of rare diseases are genetic. The first symptoms usually appear in childhood.

People and especially children with a rare disease are special and sometimes different from their peers. Together with the girl Ella, we meet the animal Selten, who is also special and sometimes different from other animals, in a staged reading. Ella gets to know Selten very happily and discovers many precious qualities in him. This gives them both courage. Discover the story of Selten and Ella and draw a picture to go with it. Your picture will certainly be special and may even win a prize from us.

Parallel to the reading, we will inform you at our information stand about rare diseases, the often long road to a confirmed diagnosis and how we as the Center for Rare Diseases (ZSE) Jena can support you here.

Note
The readings start at 6.30, 7.30 and 8.30 pm
