The poster exhibition "Women in STEM" invites you to take a look at the underrepresentation of women in STEM.

Current statistics show that the proportion of women in science decreases with each qualification level and career stage. This phenomenon of a declining proportion of women is known as the "leaky pipeline". The leaky pipeline has many causes, e.g. double workloads, gender-specific division of labor, normative life course patterns and ideas of motherhood play a central role.

On the one hand, we want to create visibility for the phenomenon of the leaky pipeline with this exhibition. On the other hand, the achievements of female professors at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena in teaching and research are honored by means of individual portraits. In this way, we want to encourage qualified young female scientists to pursue an academic career.

The portraits create real-life role models for young female scientists and are intended to encourage young women interested in STEM to choose scientific and technical courses of study. The role models show the diverse (career) paths that can be taken with a STEM degree course.
