Sudden cardiac death is one of the most common causes of death in Germany. From the moment the heart stops, every second counts. The emergency services need several minutes to reach the scene of the emergency. The survival of those affected therefore depends on first aiders starting resuscitation measures as quickly as possible.
Often, however, the inhibition threshold and fear of doing something wrong is too high, the last first aid course too long ago.
But the only mistake is to do nothing. We show and practise with you how to proceed in 3 simple steps when providing assistance in the event of a cardiac arrest.
- Check - how to recognize cardiac arrest
- Call - make an emergency call
- Press - perform chest compressions correctly
This can double or triple your chances of survival!
An AED (automatic external defibrillator) may be available in public buildings (e.g. Goethegallerie). Here you have the opportunity to see how to use an AED.
