Neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's are among the major medical challenges facing our ageing society. To make matters worse, the diseases are often only recognized when those affected notice symptoms and impairments in everyday life. By then, however, the degradation process in the brain is already well advanced. However, slight motor changes can occur many years earlier. A research team at Jena University Hospital, together with Saniva Diagnostics GmbH, has developed an innovative test instrument for reactivity, the drop stick test, which has a high potential to detect these slight motor changes and thus pave the way for faster treatment for those affected. We will be presenting the test device, and interested parties can register to take part in the study, which is intended to prove the validity of the test.
