The Lichtwerkstatt Jena is an open workshop, also known as a makerspace, which specializes in projects related to light and photonics. We offer space, tools and an accompanying educational program for anyone who is working or planning to work with maker technologies such as 3D printing, laser cutting, microcontrollers and more. Originally launched as a BMBF-funded project in the "Open Innovation" research area, we are still a largely free offer from Friedrich Schiller University for students, employees, pupils and interested citizens. In the Light Workshop, private handicraft projects, internships, seminar papers and even commercial prototypes can be realized. A fully equipped electronics workshop and an optics laboratory are available for this purpose. During the Long Night of Science in Jena, we will be presenting our services and various projects from the makerspace and invite everyone to find out more, exchange ideas or simply join in spontaneously.
