Introduction:

Safeguarding our water resources and the efficient treatment of wastewater are key challenges in modern water management. The "Water management in focus" event will give you a deeper insight into current technologies and methods. The focus will be on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and practical laboratory experiments that demonstrate innovative approaches to wastewater purification and water treatment.

Lecture: AI in the water industry

The lecture "AI in water management" deals with the possibilities and challenges of automated control of sewer networks and wastewater treatment plants, especially in the event of rain and flooding. The use of flooding simulations makes it possible to control heavy rainfall events and minimize damage. Intelligent control can optimize processes in wastewater treatment plants and sewer networks, improve cleaning effects and save energy. The application of AI opens up new perspectives for increasing efficiency and reacting more quickly to unexpected events.

Contents of the presentation:

  1. Automated control systems
    • Optimization of the control of wastewater treatment plants through AI.
    • Strategies for predicting fluctuating inflows and adapting operating parameters.
  2. Real-time data analysis
    • Importance of sensor data and its processing by AI.
    • Application examples for monitoring wastewater quantities and qualities.
  3. Optimization of sewer networks
    • Approaches to minimize overloads in urban wastewater systems.
    • Integration of AI-driven models for efficient + sustainable water management.
  4. Heavy rain simulations
    • Use of simulations to predict and control flooding.
    • Strategies to minimize damage during extreme weather events.
  5. Case studies and results
    • Presentation of successful projects with implemented AI systems.
    • Discussion of the knowledge gained and its impact on water management.

Laboratory offers:

In addition to the lecture, we offer you the opportunity to become active yourself. You can carry out the following experiments and analyses at various stations:

  1. Laboratory wastewater treatment plant:
Experience the process of wastewater treatment in a miniature plant and observe the various stages of clarification.
  2. Activated sludge microscopy:
Learn about the microorganisms that play a crucial role in wastewater treatment. Through microscopic analysis, you will gain insights into the functioning of biological water purification processes.
  3. Activated carbon adsorption:
Test the effectiveness of activated carbon in removing pollutants from water - an important component of water treatment.
  4. Water analysis:
Perform chemical analysis and learn methods for determining water quality.
  5. Hydraulic experiments:
Experiment with flow behavior to better understand challenges with water pipes.
  6. Osmosis experiments:
Learn about the processes of reverse osmosis and its application in water treatment.

Conclusion:

The "Water Management in Focus" event offers you a unique opportunity to explore both theoretical and practical aspects of water management. Through the combination of the lecture and on-site explanations via interactive laboratory experiences, a comprehensive picture of current developments in wastewater treatment and water treatment is conveyed.

We look forward to welcoming you! Join us and gain insights into the sustainable use of our water resources and the future of water management!
