From camera image to 3D height

To measure the height of an object without touching it, you need a projector, a camera and the digital fringe projection method. The projector is used to project light and dark stripe patterns onto the object. A special camera observes how the stripes deform on the object. Mathematics is then used to create a 3D image of the object and we know how high it is.
