A wide variety of noise sources such as household appliances, fans, various drives, complete motors, etc. are examined in the acoustics laboratory. The development of noise reduction measures is preceded by metrological analysis.
This requires special measuring rooms: free-field conditions are simulated in the anechoic half-space with its sound-absorbing walls. Various measurement methods are used to assess sound. The "acoustic camera" is impressive. It can make regions of increased sound exposure visible.
