3. Piwik

The City of Jena uses the software “Piwik” for the analysis of its website. For the data protection compliant use it is orientated – with a few exceptions which will be explained in the following paragraphs – towards the directions and recommendations of the Independent State Centre for Data Protection Schleswig-Holstein (ULD).

For the improvement of the internet site the City of Jena uses the referrer data of the visitors. The referrer data contains information about the reason for the page impression (direct page impression, site of origin, search engine or search terms). For the same purpose the City of Jena uses tracking Cookies with a lifespan of 90 days. They are used for, among other purposes, the recognition of website visitors, through which conclusions about the quality of the internet sites can be made.

4. Deactivate web analysis

As part of web analysis the German Telemedia Act (TMG) calls for an opportunity for the website visitors to opt-out. The City of Jena dispenses with an opportunity to opt-out when accessing the website for the first time (e.g. via a pop-up window). In order to protect yourself from recording through the web analysis software Piwik, a Piwik deactivation cookie is created in the browser which has just been used. Please be aware that an opt-out made in this way is not sufficient in all cases. Through the deletion of all browser cookies, the use of several internet browsers or similar, a further opt-out may be necessary.

Deactivate Piwik:

Here you can decide whether a unique web analysis cookie can be placed in your browser in order to enable the operator of the website to record and analyse different statistical data. If you decide against this, click on the following link in order to place the Piwik deactivation cookie in your browser.
